Reselect Sen Nwachukwu, APGA supporters urges Anambra South

Abuja

Supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra South have called on constituents to grant Senator Emmanuel C. Nwachukwu a fresh four-year mandate, arguing that equity, experience, and continuity demand it.

Nwachukwu first contested the Anambra South senatorial seat on the APGA platform in 2022. Despite facing established political heavyweights, he lost narrowly but remained in the party, backing APGA’s leadership and programs while other aspirants defected.

The opportunity to serve came in 2025 after the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. APGA adopted an internal consensus process for the bye-election to avoid a costly primary battle. Aspirants agreed to vote for a candidate other than themselves in a transparent exercise.

Nwachukwu emerged with the highest votes in that process and became the party’s consensus candidate. He went on to win the bye-election and assumed office to complete the remainder of Ubah’s term.

Backers say the senator inherited a tenure with budgets, constituency projects, and committee positions already settled, leaving him just over a year to legislate. They argue that no serious lawmaker can deliver full-scale impact in such a limited window.

The case for a full term also rests on zoning and fairness. Advocates note that Nnewi South, Nwachukwu’s local government area, has not produced an Anambra South senator before. Granting him a complete tenure, they say, ensures balanced representation across the zone.

According to party faithful, Nwachukwu is no longer a newcomer in the National Assembly. He has built relationships, learned legislative processes, and positioned himself to attract federal projects to Anambra South. A new candidate, they contend, would restart that learning curve and stall momentum.

Citing his loyalty to APGA, calm disposition, and respect for constituents, supporters are rallying under the slogan “Onọdụgo Continue Maka Oganiru Anambra South,” urging voters to return Nwachukwu in the next election for a full four years of service.
