A delegation from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), led by Professor Musa Emmanuel Umar, has paid a strategic visit to the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) Headquarters in Abuja. The visit, according to the NTDA media department on Wednesday, aimed to explore ways to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions in advancing Nigeria’s tourism agenda.
NTDA Director-General, Dr. Olayiwola Awakan, delivered a presentation on the “Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria: The NTDA Perspective.” He highlighted the tourism sector’s potential to drive innovation, create jobs, promote cultural heritage, and contribute to national economic diversification.
Professor Umar commended Dr. Awakan for his visionary leadership and impactful initiatives in the tourism sector. He described Dr. Awakan as a practitioner and not just a political appointee, emphasizing NIPSS’s readiness to collaborate with NTDA in addressing sectoral challenges.
The interactive session however, underscored the importance of strategic partnerships between policy institutions and implementing agencies. Both NIPSS and NTDA expressed commitment to strengthening tourism development through informed policy formulation and sustainable initiatives.
The visit therefore, marked a significant step towards fostering synergy between NIPSS and NTDA in unlocking Nigeria’s tourism potential. The two institutions aim to develop actionable policy recommendations to promote Nigeria’s tourism on the global stage.
The NTDA and NIPSS will work together to address challenges facing the tourism sector and explore opportunities for growth and development. This collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic diversification and sustainable development.
