Abuja

The Road Safety and Driving Standard Association (RSDSA) of The Republic of Gambia, and Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI), Nigeria, have formalized their commitment towards  improving road safety across both nations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

RSDSA  represented by Njie Barde while APRI   is  represented by Amb  Fidelis Nnadi.

The agreement is designed to foster closer collaboration, facilitating the sharing of best practices between the authorities in Banjul and Abuja.

This partnership aims to strengthen institutional capacity and coordinate joint initiatives to address the high rates of road traffic accidents in both nations.

Speaking shortly after the signing of the partnership via email, Njie Baldeh, administrative secretary, Road Safety and Driving Standard Association (RSDSA) of The Gambia thanked the Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI) for signing the  agreement in  efforts aimed at curtailing  global road deaths and fatalities.

Barde said the collaboration is very important, not only for the association but for the  Gambia as a country.

“We need this type of collaboration, as Gambia ranked 8th position in the global road accidents index ,” Mr Baldeh added.

Baldeh revealed that the association was registered in 2018 with the Attorney General’s Chambers and since then, they have been working with stakeholders in order to reduce road accidents in the country.

On his part, Amb  Fidelis Nnadi, the Executive Director, Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI) welcomed the collaboration as it conforms with global partnership demands.
