The camp of Senator Lola Ashiru is pushing back against early declarations of victory in Offa LGA, calling them a misleading attempt to rewrite the outcome of the APC primary for Kwara South.
In a press statement released by Olaitan Adeyanju, Legislative Aide to Sen. Oyelola Ashiru, the team said Offa did not go to Ashiru’s opponents and that no credible, unified results have been announced yet. The statement accuses several aspirants of jumping the gun and “creating false public perception” to pressure party stakeholders.
According to Adeyanju, what happened in Offa looked more like a show of grassroots support for Senator Ashiru than a defeat. The statement describes the scene as a “massive rally of confidence” built on years of accessibility, consistency, and direct engagement with party members.
The aide argued that Ashiru’s relevance in the district isn’t recent or imposed, but rooted in long-standing loyalty to party structures and commitment to grassroots development.
The statement took direct aim at Hajia Farida Dankaka, saying she should allow due process instead of fueling “divisive political theatrics.” It also revisited her time as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, pointing to what it called “reports of controversies, criticisms, and petitions” that followed her leadership.
The broader message was a push for unity within the APC in Kwara South. The statement warned against leadership driven by bitterness and personal vendettas, saying the district needs someone who can unite stakeholders and build bridges.
“We therefore urge APC members and the general public to remain calm and not be distracted by coordinated attempts to manufacture false narratives around the primary process,” Adeyanju wrote. “The truth cannot be buried, and the voice of the grassroots cannot be permanently silenced.”
The statement ends by reaffirming Ashiru’s commitment to the APC and the continued development of Kwara South. With no official, universally accepted results out yet, the battle over the narrative in Offa looks set to continue until the party releases its final figures.
