The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 56,000 personnel across the country to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The deployment, announced Tuesday by NSCDC spokesperson ACS Babawale Afolabi, is aimed at protecting lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) during the festive period.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, who ordered the deployment, also directed the immediate mobilization of operational vehicles, ambulances, boats, and K9 units to ensure rapid response during emergencies.
To preempt and counter potential security breaches, the Commandant General has placed all specialized tactical squads on high alert. These include:The Mining Marshals,the Special Intelligence Squad,the Crack Squad,the Female Special Force and the Rapid Response Squad.
To guarantee seamless execution of the security master plan, a strict supervisory framework has been activated: Zonal Commanders have been mandated to directly supervise commands within their purview and coordinate closely with State Commandants,while State Commandants are to ensure full compliance with the operational order, actively monitoring Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Outpost Heads.
The NSCDC reiterates its commitment to working in synergy with sister security agencies and the general public. Citizens are urged to support the Corps by providing timely and actionable information regarding any security threats, enabling personnel to respond swiftly.
The Corps issues a stern warning to individuals or groups planning to cause trouble or vandalize public infrastructure during the festive period to desist immediately. The NSCDC will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found disrupting public peace.
