As the 2026 local government elections draw near, the conversation in Ogbunka Ward 2 is shifting from promises to performance. At the center of that conversation is Hon. Prince Chika Okonkwo, the APGA aspirant for Councillor. Described by constituents as a “true son of the soil,” he says his bid is not about titles, but about delivering governance that works for every compound, writes Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka in Abuja. Excerpts:
A Departure from the Norm
In an era where average leadership has become the norm, Hon. Prince Chika Okonkwo stands out in Ogbunka Ward 2 as a beacon of purposeful service. His aspiration under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, is not driven by personal ambition, but by a conviction that governance must translate into tangible benefits for the people.
Rooted in the Omelora vision
A true son of the soil, Hon. Chika says his leadership philosophy mirrors the _Omelora_ vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. For him, _Omelora_ means leadership built on hard work, transparency, accountability, and above all, putting the people first. He believes Ward 2 deserves nothing less.
A Clear Mandate for the People
According to him, his mandate is simple and direct: effective representation for every compound in Ward 2. He argues that no community should be left behind in the distribution of projects, empowerment, and government attention. “Representation must be seen, felt, and measured in every street,” he noted.
Empowering the Next Generation
A major plank of his agenda is youth empowerment. Hon. Chika is proposing structured programs that will move young people from unemployment to entrepreneurship. The goal, he said, is to turn Ogbunka youths into business owners, not job seekers, by linking them to skills, funding, and markets.
Transparency as a Principle
On public resources, the APGA aspirant promised transparent management. He said Ward 2 must know how funds are allocated and spent. “The era of opaque budgets and abandoned projects is over. The people have a right to ask questions and get answers,” he stated.
The Choice before Ogbunka Ward 2
With the election scheduled for _August 29, 2026_, Hon. Chika says the decision before voters is critical. “The choice is ours – to remain in mediocrity, or to embrace excellence,” he declared. He is urging constituents to vote based on capacity, character, and commitment.
A Call to Action
Vote Okonkwo Prince Chika for Councillor, Ogbunka Ward 2_, he appealed. He maintained that Ward 2 needs a representative who will be accessible, accountable, and result-oriented, not one who disappears after elections.
Building a Future to be Proud of
“Our ward can be a model for grassroots development if we choose right,” he concluded. “Together, let us build a future we will all be proud of. A future where governance works for the trader, the student, the farmer, and every family in Ogbunka Ward 2.”
