The Onodugo Continuity Support Group has declared Senator Emmanuel Chibuzor Nwachukwu, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Anambra South Senatorial District, the “choice of the masses,” urging constituents to renew his mandate on the strength of his early legislative interventions and extensive professional experience.
The group made the declaration in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Chukwuma Ifeme, following a stakeholders’ meeting held in Nnewi on Saturday ahead of its planned ward-to-ward tour across the senatorial district.
Nwachukwu the incumbent Lawmaker representing the Senatorial district, popularly known as Onodugo, was elected in the August 2025 senatorial by-election with 90,408 votes and sworn into the Senate on October 8, 2025, following the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
According to the group, “within just six months in office, Senator Emmanuel C. Nwachukwu (Onodugo) has shown that representation is defined by impact, not position.”
It said the senator had moved a “strong and impactful motion” drawing urgent Federal Government attention to the deplorable state of roads and bridges across Anambra South, calling for immediate intervention and rehabilitation.
The group also highlighted his intervention on the erosion crisis, saying he “championed another critical motion addressing the devastating erosion challenges affecting several LGAs in Anambra South, pushing for swift government response to protect lives and communities.”
On electoral reform, the statement said Nwachukwu was among the 15 senators who supported real-time electronic transmission of election results, describing the position as part of his commitment to transparent and credible elections.
The group further cited his intervention following the Ozubulu fire incident in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, saying he “reached out through NEMA to secure federal government support for victims of the Ozubulu fire incident in Ekwusigo LGA, bringing relief and hope to affected families.”
It also pointed to his intervention in the power sector, stating: “His intervention in the power sector is already yielding results, with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) commencing grid expansion in Anambra South, an important step toward improved electricity supply.”
The group said the achievements were recorded despite what it described as “multiple legal battles intended to distract him,” which lasted for more than four months.
“Yet, he remained focused, proving his resilience and dedication to service,” it stated.
The group also emphasised Nwachukwu’s extensive corporate background, describing it as an asset to his legislative responsibilities.
A graduate of Accounting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nwachukwu has attended Advanced Management Programmes at Lagos Business School and IESE University, Barcelona, Spain.
His career has spanned banking, private equity, telecommunications and energy, with senior roles at UBA Plc, New Nigeria Bank Plc, Berkeley Group Plc, Willbros Group and Capcom Telecoms Ltd.
According to the group, this diverse experience gives him “a unique representation style with expertise in policy formulation and execution, creating a dynamic partnership that Anambra South deserves.”
Explaining why Nwachukwu is seeking another term, the group said he is “poised and determined to bring impactful representation to ndi Anambra South.”
It said a renewed mandate would enable him to align his legislative agenda with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of a “livable, prosperous, and digitally-driven smart megacity,” while promoting innovation, economic growth and better opportunities for the people.
The group maintained that although there are candidates from other political parties, “Senator Emmanuel C. Nwachukwu stands out as the best choice for the future and betterment of Anambra South Senatorial Zone.”
It therefore urged constituents to support his continuity bid, declaring:
“Oganiru Anambra South! This selfless journey is for the people. Nke anyi agaghi efu!”, the statement concluded.
