What started with 245 enrolments on day one has grown into a full-scale operation, with the Nigeria Immigration Service processing 2,296 applicants in the first six days of its UK Special Passport Intervention.
The exercise launched September 7, 2026 at the London and Manchester centers. Data from NIS shows enrolments have held strong throughout the week, peaking at 429 on September 10.
The day-by-day breakdown: Sept 7 – 245, Sept 8 – 401, Sept 9 – 396, Sept 10 – 429, Sept 11 – 406, Sept 12 – 419.
Manchester led with 1,709 applicants processed, while London recorded 587 within the same period. All applicants processed so far had confirmed appointments.
NIS said the intervention is part of ongoing efforts to reduce waiting times for Nigerians abroad. To guarantee service quality, the Comptroller has put monitoring mechanisms in place at both centers.
