Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed a deep personal miracle behind his 10th pilgrimage to the world-famous Prayer Ground of St. Padre PIO in Italy.
This was contained in a press release from Jackson Udom, Special Assistant to the President of the Senate on Media on Sunday.
Akpabio, who is in St. Giovanni Rotondo to pray for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, told St. Padre PIO TV/Radio that he came to pray for himself, his family and for Nigeria which is “being ravaged by banditry and terrorism.”
But the highlight of his visit was a moving testimony about his wife, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio.
According to the Senate President, his wife was in a coma for six months in a German hospital after an operation went wrong and doctors said she was 98 percent dead.
“I used the picture of PIO to make a sign of the cross on her, instead of putting-off the life-support machine. I cried to Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, and called on PIO to intercede. Miraculously, she woke up,” Akpabio recounted.
He said the hospital never understood what happened and that it took his wife three months after discharge to remember his name and those of their children.
“We are here today to give thanks to God and to thank PIO for always interceding for us. We honored PIO by giving our son the baptismal name PIO and established a big academy called PIO Football Academy where we train and offer scholarships to children of the poor,” he said.
