There were encomiums on Wednesday as the Ministry of Interior celebrated 31 officers who retired after 35 years of service.
At a colourful send-forth ceremony held at Silver Green Hotels, Gudu, Abuja, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, hailed the retirees for their dedication and sacrifice.
Dr. Ajani said their 35 years in the civil service was not just a career, but a lasting investment in Nigeria’s future.
Conveying the message of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, she thanked the retirees for their meritorious service and urged them to prioritize their health and faith in retirement.
She advised them to stay close to their families, give back to their communities, mentor young officers and embrace entrepreneurship for financial independence.
“Don’t depend only on your children. Explore small businesses and remain productive,” she counselled.
The Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Catherine Zozi, also lauded the retirees, saying their contributions would remain appreciated by the Ministry and the nation.
The ceremony ended with goodwill messages wishing the retirees peace, happiness and a fulfilling new chapter.
