The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has placed its personnel on red alert nationwide ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebration.
The Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, announced the strategic deployment of personnel and operational resources across the 36 states and FCT, with special focus on Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
According to him, the deployment is to protect strategic installations, public facilities and vulnerable locations against vandalism, sabotage and criminality.
He reassured Nigerians of the Corps’ preparedness to discharge its statutory mandate and maintain peace and national security during and after the celebrations.
Prof. Audi said the Corps will sustain close collaboration with sister security agencies, stakeholders and communities to boost intelligence gathering and rapid response.
He urged Nigerians to be vigilant and report suspicious movements, while calling for renewed patriotism and unity.
