The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on key infrastructure projects across the Territory. He said the projects would be ready for commissioning during the third-year anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Wike made the remarks on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, after inspecting three sites in the FCT. The projects visited include the Body of Benchers annex complex, the road linking Baze and Nile Universities, and the road to Tungan Madaki community from Bill Clinton Drive.
Addressing journalists after the tour, the Minister said the projects reflect the administration’s commitment to opening up satellite towns, in line with President Tinubu’s directive. He noted that opening these areas is central to spreading development beyond the city center.
He stated that all the projects inspected were nearing completion and would be among those slated for inauguration to mark the President’s third anniversary in office. Wike commended the contractors for delivering quality work within the set timeframe.
Providing updates, the Minister said the Body of Benchers office annex was 95 percent completed and fully furnished. “We are happy with what we have seen, the quality of the job,” he said, adding that the project would be ready for inauguration.
Wike also confirmed that the adjoining road constructed by CCECC had been completed and was being fitted with streetlights. He said the road would be part of those inaugurated during the anniversary events, alongside the Body of Benchers annex.
On the road to Tungan Madaki community off Bill Clinton Drive, the Minister said major works had been completed, including the bridge. He noted that asphalt laying was underway and expressed confidence it would be finished within a week, with streetlights already being installed.
He described the expansion of the road from Tungan Madaki into Zuba as a milestone for community development. “My greatest happiness is that we have also started the road going into Zuba. In a sense, the entire of these communities will be opened and that is what development is all about,” he said.
Wike praised the contractors for their performance, saying he was impressed with both the quality and timely completion of the jobs. “Not only that it is a quality job, but that they were completed on time, so I am very happy,” he added.
Responding to claims that the FCTA was providing infrastructure while Area Council chairmen were not utilizing their allocations, the Minister dismissed the allegations as unfounded. He explained that the councils’ allocations were largely consumed by salaries, particularly for primary school teachers, and urged residents to be realistic about the financial constraints.
