In the corridors of the National Assembly on Monday, party politics took a back seat. The Forum of National Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLAPPN) sat with the Senate to deliver a unified message: the attacks on Nigerians in South Africa must stop, and government must act before July 31, Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka, Our Managing Editor can report.
The Meeting
Senator Aniekan Etim Bassey, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, received the Forum following a formal letter on the xenophobic attacks.
Why They Came
The Forum said it was compelled to act over the continued violence, destruction of businesses, and what it described as slow response to the safety of Nigerians abroad.
Who Led Them
Eze Onyebuchi, Chairman of FNYLPPN and National Youth Leader of APGA, led the cross-party delegation to the meeting.
Gratitude, But With Pressure
Onyebuchi thanked the Senator for the invitation, noting that it showed “our voices are being heard.” He quickly added that appreciation must translate to action.
The Deadline
On behalf of Nigerian youths across all political parties, the July 31st deadline remains,” he declared, demanding concrete measures on or before that date.

The Forum also pointed to the alleged complicity of the South African government, calling it a “deal breaker” in diplomatic relations.
Demand One
The group wants immediate and firm diplomatic action by the Federal Government against South Africa.

It is asking for compensation and restitution for Nigerians whose lives and businesses have been affected.

Enhanced consular protection through the Nigerian Mission in Pretoria was listed as critical to respond to victims quickly.

The Forum called on the African Union and ECOWAS to intervene to curb Afrophobia across the continent.
