Abuja

The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has reaffirmed the Corps’ critical place in Nigeria’s security framework. In a press release signed by Babawale Afolabi,

Assistant Commandant of Corps,

Public Relations Officer (PRO) NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja on Tuesday, he said the NSCDC occupies a unique and irreplaceable position within the nation’s security architecture due to its mandate in safeguarding critical infrastructure and civil order.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day strategic training on the implementation of operational deliverables and research methodology, Prof. Audi emphasized the Corps’ critical mandates, which include safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, disaster management, intelligence gathering, and active community engagement.

“This program is designed to explore and promote the adoption of research methodology and digitalization as critical enablers for achieving the Corps’ operational deliverables, in alignment with the Presidential Priorities,” the CG stated.

The NSCDC boss explained that the initiative reflects management’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity through innovation, technology, and evidence-based decision-making.

He stressed that modern security challenges require analytical solutions, i.e., analytical skills: personnel must look beyond field competence to acquire the skills necessary to identify problems, conduct research, and generate practical solutions. More so,measurable Results: The knowledge gained must translate into visible, measurable improvements in service delivery across all formations of the Corps.

Earlier in the event, the Commandant in charge of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Commandant Peter Okloho, reminded participants that the federal government assesses the NSCDC strictly by its statutory deliverables. He charged officers to maintain the highest levels of professionalism in their reporting post-training.

Echoing this sentiment, the Head of the Critical Thinking, Research, and Innovation Unit (CTRIU), Dr. Ogunshola Folashade, noted that navigating today’s dynamic security environment demands a blend of field competence and critical thinking. She outlined that the training would extensively cover, the Implementation strategies for operational deliverables,Research methodology and strategic communication. Advanced report writing and institutional best practices.

A major highlight of the workshop was the official induction and administration of the Oath of Allegiance to the newly appointed CRTI desk officers, conducted by the NSCDC head of legal, Commandant Bamiyo Akomolafe. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ACC Gever Victor.

The two-day intensive training brought together participants from all 36 state commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), alongside representatives from all directorates, departments, and units at the National Headquarters.
