Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State Mayor Shedrack Azubuike, has enjoined Ndi Anambra and Nigerians across the 774 local government areas to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 presidential agenda, saying the Federal Government’s (FG’s) ongoing infrastructure interventions demonstrate its commitment to national development and regional integration.

Azubuike made the call while highlighting what he described as the growing cooperation between the FG and Anambra State under President Tinubu and Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

The mayor said the cordial relationship between the two leaders had created a window of opportunity for Anambra to attract additional federal projects, investments and development initiatives capable of strengthening the state’s economy and improving the welfare of its citizens.

He cited the Second Niger Bridge as one of the major infrastructure interventions with significant implications for Anambra and the wider South-East. According to him, the bridge provides an alternative route across the River Niger, reduces pressure on the existing Niger Bridge and strengthens transportation links between the region and other parts of Nigeria.

Azubuike also pointed to the Federal Government’s construction of the 17-kilometre Second Niger Bridge access road in Anambra State, describing the dualised concrete road as an important component of the wider connectivity project. He said the road would provide a more direct link from Onitsha to the bridge while helping to ease congestion and facilitate the movement of people and goods.

He further noted that President Tinubu had approved the dualisation of the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube/Okigwe Junction Road.

According to him, the strategic road projects would improve regional connectivity, promote trade and strengthen economic links between Anambra and neighbouring states.

The mayor also highlighted the approved nine-kilometre extension of the Benin–Asaba Expressway to the Second Niger Bridge, as well as rehabilitation work on the First Niger Bridge, including the replacement of vandalised structural components and the installation of solar-powered streetlights and CCTV cameras.

Azubuike urged Nigerians to look beyond partisan considerations and support policies and leadership that promote infrastructure development, economic growth, security, investment and sustainable development.

“These projects are evidence that when the state and federal governments work together, our people stand to benefit. We must continue to encourage cooperation that will bring more development, investment and opportunities to Anambra State,” he said.

Calling on Ndi Anambra to remain united behind Governor Soludo’s developmental vision while supporting President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, stressing that continuity, cooperation and constructive engagement remained critical to sustainable development, he said: “The future we desire requires partnership, not unnecessary confrontation. Let us support development, strengthen the relationship between Anambra State and the FG, and give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the opportunity to continue the work in 2027.

Together, we can build an Anambra that is more connected, prosperous and positioned for greater opportunities.”

Progressives are working together.
