The Mayor of Orumba South Local Government Area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike, has expressed condolences to Dr. Ben Nwankwo, the Ike-Ibe family, and the entire Akpu community over the deadly attack on the convoy of the Chief of Staff to the Governor.
In a statement, Azubuike described the incident as heartbreaking. He said the attack claimed the lives of two police officers, the Chief of Staff’s driver, and his own friend, Chief Engineer Innocent Ike-Ibe, popularly known as Omenka.
The Mayor paid tribute to Ike-Ibe, describing him as one of the most trusted political allies in Orumba South. “Omenka remains one of the most trusted political allies in Orumba South and a good man, who always brings light and happiness to any environment he finds himself,” Azubuike stated.
On behalf of the entire Orumba South, the Mayor prayed for the repose of the souls of Omenka and the other victims. He asked God to grant them eternal rest and give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.
Azubuike also called on all relevant security agencies to act swiftly. “We call on all relevant security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of this inhumane treatment be brought to justice as soon as possible,” he demanded.
The Mayor ended his message with a tribute to his late friend. “Rest in Peace Omenka!” Azubuike said.
