Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has formally received the report of the Igbo Charter of Strategic Engagement for National Development at its National Secretariat in Enugu. The submission marks a major step in the organisation’s push for structured engagement in Nigeria’s development process.
The National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Ezechi Chukwu, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday in Enugu. He said the presentation took place during an official session of the organisation’s Global Executive Council.
According to Chukwu, the report was prepared by a committee chaired by former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Kingsley Moghalu. Members of the committee present at the submission included Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo, First Deputy Chairman, and Chief Enyinnaya Onokala, who served as Secretary.
The report was formally received by the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, alongside other members of the Global Executive Council. Chukwu noted that the ceremony underscored the significance of the assignment to the Igbo nation.
Presenting the report, Professor Moghalu expressed appreciation to the President-General and the council for the confidence reposed in the committee. He described the assignment as historic and said the exercise reflected the Igbo worldview within the broader Nigerian national context.
Moghalu further disclosed that the report includes a special compendium titled “Igbo Builders.” The compendium documents the contributions of 125 late Igbo leaders across various fields whose efforts, he said, contributed significantly to the development of Ndigbo and Nigeria.
He commended other members of the committee for their commitment and dedication throughout the assignment. The former CBN deputy governor said the charter is aimed at strengthening strategic engagement for development and national cohesion.
In his remarks, Senator Azuta Mbata commended the committee for what he described as an outstanding, patriotic and visionary effort. The Ohanaeze President-General assured that the recommendations contained in the report would receive due attention and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Ndigbo and national development.
