The Standup for Women Society (SWS) has celebrated its Founder and National President, Barrister Deborah Ijadele-Adetona, following her recognition as a “Global Woman of Influence” at a prestigious award ceremony held in Singapore on September 19, 2026, according to a press release signed by
Ladi Dinci Emmanuel, Deputy Director-General, Media, Publicity & Communication, Standup for Women Society (SWS) for and on behalf of all SWS members, on 20 September 2026
The organisation described the international recognition as a significant acknowledgement of Ijadele-Adetona’s years of leadership, advocacy and commitment to advancing the welfare of women, girls and vulnerable members of society.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Sunday by the Office of the Deputy Director-General, Media, Publicity and Communication, SWS National Headquarters, the National Executive Council, state chapters and members of the society across Nigeria and the Diaspora hailed the award as a source of pride.
The statement, signed by Ladi Dinci Emmanuel, Deputy Director-General, Media, Publicity and Communication, described Ijadele-Adetona as an “Amazon,” “Mother” and “Visionary Leader,” whose advocacy work had attracted attention beyond Nigeria.
According to SWS, the global recognition reflects the passion, sacrifices and leadership demonstrated by its National President in promoting the interests and rights of women and girls.
The organisation said Ijadele-Adetona had nurtured SWS from an idea into a platform whose activities focus on restoring hope, dignity and opportunities to women and vulnerable members of society.
“Your life daily inspires us to be bold, to be compassionate, to stand for justice, and to be a voice for the vulnerable women and girls in our society and the nation at large,” the statement said.
SWS also said the recognition had provided an opportunity for its members to celebrate the broader values of service, advocacy and leadership which the organisation associates with its activities across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
The society expressed pride in the international honour, saying it represented another moment of visibility for Nigerian women contributing to social development and community welfare.
“Ma, you have made Nigeria proud. You have made every SWS woman proud. You have made womanhood proud,” the organisation stated.
SWS expressed optimism that the Singapore recognition would open further opportunities for Ijadele-Adetona to expand her humanitarian and women-focused advocacy, while offering prayers for greater opportunities and continued impact.
The congratulatory message concluded with a message from members of the organisation: “Congratulations, Our Global Icon!”
The recognition comes as SWS continues its activities in women’s empowerment, advocacy, social responsibility and the protection of vulnerable women and girls.
For members of the society, the Singapore honour represents not only a personal milestone for their National President but also a celebration of the women and communities connected to the SWS movement.
