The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has visited the Minna Emirate and families affected by the deaths of detainees in NSCDC custody, assuring that anyone found responsible will face the consequences.
Audi visited the Emir of Minna, Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Farouk Bahago, the parents of the deceased and the family of the survivor as part of efforts to personally commiserate with those affected.
The NSCDC spokesman, Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi, said the CG assured the families that the Corps would not protect anyone found culpable.
Audi also disclosed that the Federal Government, acting on the directive of the Presidency, had set up a high-powered committee to investigate the incident.
He said the NSCDC was cooperating fully with the panel and that relevant personnel had been placed in protective custody to facilitate transparent investigation, interrogation and possible judicial proceedings.
The Commandant General further joined Muslim faithful in prayers for the deceased and for the bereaved families, while the Minna Emir expressed appreciation for his visit and the steps already taken by the Corps.
