Chairman of the Southern Senators Forum and Senator representing Lagos East, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, on Thursday commissioned the 4.6-kilometre Takatuku-Dandamu Road in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The road commissioning, according to a press release from Enitan Olukotun, Media Aide to Senator Abiru, formed part of activities marking the third anniversary of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto’s administration.
Speaking as Chairman of the occasion, Senator Abiru described the project as a symbol of purposeful leadership and people-centred governance, stressing that development is best measured by its impact on ordinary citizens.
He lauded Governor Ahmed Aliyu for recording remarkable achievements across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, water supply, housing, youth empowerment and security in three years.
The Lagos East lawmaker said the governor had demonstrated he is a worthy successor to former Governor and Senator representing Sokoto North, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
According to Abiru, the Takatuku-Dandamu Road was constructed under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project with support from the World Bank, French Development Agency and Federal Government.
He noted the road will enhance rural connectivity, facilitate evacuation of agricultural produce, reduce transportation costs and improve access to schools, healthcare facilities and markets for Bodinga residents and adjoining communities.
Senator Abiru hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration created an enabling environment through bold economic reforms and increased fiscal support to states.
“President Tinubu has shown uncommon courage in undertaking reforms to reposition the economy. His administration has enhanced the financial capacity of states through improved revenue streams, empowering governors to embark on ambitious projects,” he said.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, Abiru commended Governor Aliyu for prudent management of resources, transparency and accountability.
He urged Sokoto residents to sustain support for the APC-led administration, adding that three years of achievements should inspire greater confidence in government at both state and federal levels.
The ceremony attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, party leaders, community stakeholders and APC supporters, while Abiru paid tribute to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and Senator Wamakko for their guidance and mentorship.
