Abuja

The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, as a “people-oriented leader to the core.” The commendation was contained in a press release issued by Kingsley Madaki, Chief Press Secretary to the AMAC Chairman.

Maikalangu gave the praise on Tuesday during the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Southern Parkway Service Lanes in Gaduwa District. The project is designed to permanently end traffic gridlock and transform Abuja’s southern corridor.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu flagged off the transformative infrastructure project, with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, representing him. The President described the initiative as a critical component of his administration’s infrastructure renewal programme and a direct reflection of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to project briefs, the service lanes will drastically improve vehicular movement, upgrade the capital city’s aesthetic value, and ease economic activities within the municipal area. The development targets one of Abuja’s most congested routes.

Speaking on the impact, Hon. Maikalangu expressed deep appreciation to both the presidency and FCT leadership. He noted that the service lanes directly address the daily commuting challenges faced by residents of the capital city and will boost commerce along the corridor.

In another development, Maikalangu joined Vice President Kashim Shettima on the ground as he officially commissioned a massive water supply network linking Karu, Orozo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, and adjoining satellite towns. The project was executed under the leadership of FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike.

The water project delivers on the federal promise to end the neglect of Abuja’s suburbs. Residents of the thriving communities will now have access to a reliable supply of clean water, bringing renewed hope and improving public health across the area.
