The member representing Orumba South Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Nwafor, popularly called Ntu Japan, has escaped an attack by gunmen along the Awa-Amansea Road on Sunday, May 31. According to media reports, the legislator and his Chief of Staff survived by divine intervention during an exchange of gunfire that left his vehicle riddled with bullets.
The media report went on: “The legislator and his Chief of Staff managed to escape during the exchange of gunfire while his vehicle was riddled with bullets.” He returned all glory to God for saving his life from what was described as: “The hands of the men of the underworld.”
The lawmaker was said to have confirmed that Engr. Innocent Ike-Ibe and others lost their lives in the attack. “May the soul of our beloved Engr. Innocent Ike-Ibe and others who lost their lives in the incident find rest in the bosom of the Lord,” he prayed, as he extended condolences to the families of the deceased and the affected communities.
Hon. Nwafor urged residents of Orumba South, Anambra South, and Anambra State at large to remain calm and prayerful. He said government intervention is necessary, but divine intervention is also critical for lasting peace and security across the state.
The lawmaker called on citizens to continue praying for the betterment of society and for an end to violent attacks. He emphasized that unity and vigilance among communities will complement security efforts by government agencies.
Hon. Nwafor reaffirmed his commitment to serving Orumba South Constituency despite the incident, vowing to work with security agencies and community leaders to ensure the safety of lives and property in the area.
