The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has described his recognition at the HallowMace Africa National Legislative Awards as a renewed motivation for greater service to the people. He was named the Southeast Most Outstanding Speaker at the ceremony held at the NAF Event Centre, Abuja, on Friday, according to Emma Madu, Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker.
Speaking after receiving the award, Udeze dedicated the honor to the government and people of Anambra State as well as to the 8th Anambra State House of Assembly. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting legislative excellence, integrity, and effective representation.
The Speaker however noted that under his leadership, the Assembly has introduced reforms and innovations in lawmaking and agenda setting that have drawn attention across Nigeria’s parliamentary space.
He assured that the 8th Assembly would sustain its focus on enacting impactful laws and resolutions aimed at the overall development of Anambra State and the welfare of its citizens, even as he stressed the need for stronger synergy between the Legislature and the Executive, saying such collaboration remains critical to delivering dividends of democracy to the masses.
The Speaker also appreciated the organizers of the HallowMace Africa Awards and the Conference of Speakers in Nigeria for finding him worthy of the recognition. He thanked Ndi Anambra for their prayers and support, noting that their encouragement has strengthened his resolve to provide purposeful leadership in the State Legislature.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of HallowMace Africa, Ambassador Sunny Osiebe, said the awards were instituted to celebrate lawmakers who have distinguished themselves in legislative performance and public service. He stated that Rt. Hon. Udeze qualified for the award based on his track record of leadership, reforms, and commitment to democratic ideals in the South-East.
Meanwhile, reactions from across Anambra State have continued to trail the award. Many citizens described the recognition of Speaker Udeze as the South-East Most Outstanding Speaker as a welcome development and a true testament to his accomplishments in legislative leadership and service to the people.
