Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to guard against tendencies that threaten the collective good, emphasizing the need for unity and a stronger party structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the APC’s 8th National Convention in Abuja, Tinubu reiterated that the party is strong, united, and focused, and ready for the future. He emphasized that the APC is not just a vehicle for electoral victories, but a platform for national transformation.

The President noted that democracy thrives on vibrant and healthy competition, and welcomed criticism, but condemned constant attacks on the Electoral Act 2026 by opposition groups. He assured Nigerians that the APC is committed to upholding the rule of law and conducting credible elections.

Tinubu highlighted the party’s achievements, including infrastructure development, tax reforms, and social investment programs. He also noted that the party has made strides in strengthening national security, building foreign exchange buffers, and improving the economy.

The President emphasized the importance of youth participation in the party, urging leaders to open doors for young people to lead and shape Nigeria’s democracy. He also acknowledged the crucial role of women in the party’s growth and stability.

Tinubu called on delegates to conduct themselves with integrity and mutual respect, and urged aspirants to accept the outcome of the convention with humility. He commended the Convention Planning Committee for their dedication and excellence.

The President expressed his appreciation to governors, ministers, and stakeholders for their roles in the convention’s success. He also congratulated those elected into leadership positions, urging them to lead with courage, integrity, and vision.

Tinubu emphasized that the APC’s future depends on the leadership’s ability to inspire confidence, strengthen unity, and deliver progress. He called on the new leadership to sustain the party’s growth and ensure transparent party management.

The President assured Nigerians that the APC is committed to delivering on its Renewed Hope Agenda, and urged citizens to support the party’s efforts to build a stronger, more prosperous nation.

In closing, Tinubu thanked the APC members for their trust and support, and urged them to continue working towards a brighter future for Nigeria.
