It was commendations for Governor Ademola Adeleke on Sunday as Accord Party leaders in the FCT applauded his re-election in Osun State.
Hon. Chinedu Obika, who represents AMAC/Bwari in the House of Representatives, and Dalhatu Ezekiel, the party’s candidate for the other FCT constituency, jointly addressed the press in Abuja.
The two men said the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election was a clear expression of the will of Osun voters.
INEC conducted the election across the state’s 30 local government areas. Collation ended in the early hours of Sunday.
When the final result was announced, Mr Adeleke, flying the flag of the Accord Party, was declared winner ahead of APC’s Bola Oyebamiji and other contenders.
For the FCT duo, the election provided another test of Nigeria’s electoral system. And according to them, INEC passed it.
“We hail INEC and all stakeholders who ensured the people’s mandate was respected in Osun,” Mr Obika stated. “This is democracy in action.”
Mr Ezekiel added that the peaceful conduct of the poll should serve as a template for future elections across the country.
They specifically urged the commission to sustain the credibility shown in Osun and replicate it in upcoming FCT area council and general elections.
The Accord candidates also praised Osun voters for coming out in large numbers. They called on all political actors to accept the result and work together for peace and development in the state.
