Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, announced on Tuesday that the case involves a woman who flew into Nigeria from Uganda and was admitted to a private hospital in Abuja.
Lab results confirmed Ebola, Pate said, adding that the patient has been isolated and is receiving care.
Emergency teams from the Federal Ministry of Health, NCDC and FCT Health Services have swung into action, tracing 44 persons who had contact with the patient including health workers and fellow travellers.
The FG has placed all hospitals on high alert and urged Nigerians not to panic but to observe hand hygiene, avoid contact with body fluids of suspected cases and watch out for fever, headache, vomiting and diarrhoea, assuring that Nigeria contained Ebola in 2014 and can do it again.
