The Nigeria Democratic Congress in Ekiti State has accused one of its members, Dr. Ayodele Ayokunle Olusegun, of attempting to create confusion within the party through a social media statement claiming to pass a “vote of no confidence” on the state leader.
The party said the statement, which targeted Apostle Ayodele David-Adesua, was not sanctioned by the Ekiti State Chapter and should be disregarded by the public and party faithful.
According to the NDC, Apostle David-Adesua remains the authentic and recognised leader of the party in Ekiti following the handover of the state structure by the National Leader.
The chapter credited him with stabilising, growing and repositioning the NDC in Ekiti, adding that his leadership has given the party unity and renewed momentum.
The party alleged that Dr. Olusegun was brought into the NDC by Apostle David-Adesua but has repeatedly acted without mandate, including declaring himself “leader” in Ekiti South Senatorial District.
It further stated that the same individual announced himself as the 2027 South Senatorial Candidate from America without undergoing party screening, describing the action as contrary to NDC principles.
“The NDC Ekiti State Chapter condemns in totality the attempt to malign the character of our leader and create confusion within the party. We reject any vote of no confidence purportedly passed against Apostle Ayodele David-Adesua,” the statement read.
The party said it remains focused on building a stronger, people-oriented NDC ahead of 2027 and will not allow agents of division to derail its progress, calling on members to stay united under Apostle David-Adesua’s leadership.
