The three-day FIFA capacity-building programme for women football administrators in Nigeria, organized by the Nigeria Football Federation, will commence in the nation’s capital on Friday, according to NFF Communications Department recently.

Already, FIFA women’s football technical experts Thubaelihle Sibanda and Tsholofelo Setlhoko have landed in the Federal capital as the NFF concludes preparations for hosting a very impactful programme.

The FIFA-appointed resource persons will be joined by Nigeria’s own football administration amazon, Aisha Falode (Member of the NFF Executive Committee and Member, FIFA Media Committee, as well as a FIFA/CAF Match Commissioner); Professor Mariam Suleiman (Department of Human Kinetics & Health Education, Ahmadu Bello University); Dr Anthonia Uwa (physical education and sports administration expert, researcher and educator) and; Mr. Mohammed Ameenu (FIFA-trained technical instructor in refereeing and FIFA-certified safeguarding officer).

A total of 41 women’s football administrators in Nigeria will participate in the three-day event, including 20 from the Nigeria Women Football League, three from the State Football Associations (secretaries of Lagos, Yobe and Nasarawa States) and 15 NFF staff members.

On Friday, after the opening ceremony expected to be performed by the NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, Sibanda will dwell on ‘FIFA’s Overview of Women’s Football Worldwide,’ ‘Connecting and Exploring Leadership’ and ‘Planning and Execution of Women’s Football Programmes.’

Setlhoko will talk on ‘Team Leadership: Leading Others’ while Professor Suleiman will present a paper on ‘Mentoring the Girl-Child’ and Ameenu will speak on ‘Result-based Management and Performance Accountability in Football.’

On Saturday, Dr Uwa will engage the participants on ‘Bridging the Gap between Men and Women’s Football’ before Sibanda talks on ‘Nigeria Women’s Football Landscape: Current Realities.’ Ms Falode will speak on ‘NFF Women’s Football Strategy: Progress Towards Nigeria’s First Blueprint for Women’s Football’ before Sibanda and Selhoko delve into ‘Strategic Planning’ and Ameenu takes a session on ‘Safeguarding.’
