The FCT Inland Revenue Service, FCT-IRS, led by Acting Chairman Michael Ango, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, on Monday. The visit aimed to strengthen inter-agency collaboration on revenue administration in the Federal Capital Territory.
Details of the engagement were disclosed in a press release issued by Kingsley Madaki, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to the Executive Chairman.
Discussions centered on partnering with AMAC through the newly established Area Council Liaison Department within the FCT-IRS. The department was created to streamline engagement between the service and the six area councils.
According to the release, the liaison department will serve as the central coordination and communication hub between the FCT-IRS and the area councils. Its role is to harmonize revenue operations and reduce duplication in tax collection processes.
Both parties expressed optimism that the initiative would improve efficiency, enhance compliance, and boost internally generated revenue for the FCT and its councils.
