Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, Member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, on Friday welcomed the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency Mrs. Miriam Morales Palmero, to his office at the National Assembly.
The visit, announced in a statement by Amb. Emenike Egbusunwa, SSA Media and Publicity to Hon. Obika, was part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Cuba.
As Chairman of the Nigeria-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, Hon. Obika said the meeting was aimed at deepening cooperation that will directly impact the Federal Capital Territory.
Key areas of focus identified during the deliberations include Agriculture, ICT, Science and Technology, and Healthcare.
Hon. Obika emphasized that the partnership must translate into real projects and benefits for constituents in AMAC/Bwari and across the FCT.
“We are committed to building a robust partnership that delivers tangible benefits for both the Federal Capital Territory and the broader Nigerian-Cuban relationship,” he said.
The Cuban Ambassador expressed her country’s willingness to share expertise, particularly in healthcare delivery and agricultural technology.
Both leaders noted that sustainable development can be achieved through structured collaboration and exchange programs.
Hon. Obika assured that the Parliamentary Friendship Group will provide legislative backing to ensure agreements are implemented.
The engagement marks another step in Nigeria’s bid to diversify international partnerships beyond traditional allies.
