The Okeoma family of Umuchinyere, Amamba Autonomous Community, Ndundu, Uturu in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State has announced 23rd July, 2026 for the burial of their patriarch, Late Ezinna Sylvester Nwankwor Okeoma, with the title of Ichie Agbaekperechi of the community.
Confirming the date to journalists in Uturu, Sir Pius Okeoma, Principal Partner at Goodwill Chambers and son of the deceased, said his father passed on gloriously and peacefully on 5th May, 2026 at the ripe age of 103.
According to Sir Pius, Ichie Agbaekperechi was the oldest person in Ndundu community at the time of his death and was widely respected for his wisdom, peace-loving nature, and devotion to God.
“The patriarch, until his passing into the blossom of God, was a devoted Christian. He left a legacy of peace, tranquility, love, harmonious relationships, and the fear of God in the family,” he said.
He disclosed that his late father was a farmer who owned and serviced plantations across the village until age slowed him down, adding that he sacrificed his yesterdays to secure a better tomorrow for his children and grandchildren.
Sir Pius stated that the values handed down by the centenarian were honesty, lawfulness, and peaceful coexistence. “We his children learned to be law-abiding, honest, and peaceful in all our dealings with all men,” he noted.
He added that the Ezinna Sylvester Nwankwor Okeoma’s burial will commence with the body lying in state and a funeral Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Ndundu, before interment at his compound in Umuchinyere.
The family is appealing to God for fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and for resources to give Ichie Agbaekperechi a befitting burial, while urging all to emulate his peaceful and upright life.
