The workshop of Nnamdi Udenka, popularly called Akajiofor, in Idu Koro, host community of the Idu Industrial Area, FCT, was filled with joy on Thursday as friends and well-wishers gathered to thank God over a new car gifted to his daughter by her in-law.
The gathering was a dual celebration: appreciation for the new vehicle and thanksgiving for the birth of Akajiofor’s newborn grandson. The event drew family members, neighbours, and close associates from within the industrial area.
Performing the traditional kola nut rite, Akajiofor prayed for the safe use of the car, divine protection for his family and in-laws, and good health for the new mother and her baby boy. He said the vehicle was provided to help his daughter shuttle her newborn to school with ease.
“May this car serve us well,” he prayed. “If everyone has enough, enmity will end.” He also thanked friends and well-wishers for standing with him to celebrate both the new babies in the family and the generous gift.
In his remarks, Elder Moses Ezechukwu, (Okaobuluzor), joined in prayers for the family. He asked God to go before and behind them, to shield the newborn, and to protect the new car and all who use it.
Ezechukwu described Akajiofor as a peace-loving man and urged the young couple to keep seeking elders’ counsel. “Advice from elders goes a long way to keep peace in young homes,” he said.
The atmosphere was lively with thanksgiving songs, prayers, and goodwill messages. Guests described the in-law’s gesture as an act of love and family bonding that strengthens marriage ties.
Community members noted that the celebration reflected Idu’s culture of communal joy, where milestones like childbirth and family support are shared together. They wished the family many more reasons to celebrate.
