Incumbent lawmaker Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has officially emerged as the unopposed consensus candidate of the Action People’s Party, APP, for the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election.
The primary election was collated at the party’s Orie Akokwa office, which served as the collation centre. Ugochinyere secured a 100 percent affirmation vote from all statutory delegates drawn from both Ideato North and Ideato South Council Areas. His emergence followed broad endorsement from local stakeholders and party faithful.
The exercise proceeded without rancour or conflict. Hundreds of delegates gathered peacefully at the venue to ratify their preferred candidate, a development party officials described as a show of unity ahead of 2027.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were present throughout the process. Electoral Officer for Ideato North, Mr. Tony Onwuasoanya, and his Ideato South counterpart, Mrs. Wendy, actively supervised the proceedings.
Both INEC officials later endorsed the outcome and confirmed that the primaries were conducted in full compliance with the Electoral Act and relevant guidelines. They commended party members for their orderly and dignified conduct during the exercise.
