The Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) has inaugurated and sworn in a seven-member National Constitution Review Committee, in a major move aimed at strengthening the association’s governance, accountability and administrative structures.
The committee was inaugurated on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the LECAN National Headquarters, No. 34 Moses Majekodunmi Crescent, Utako, Abuja, with a mandate to undertake a comprehensive review of the association’s existing Constitution.
The review, according to the LECAN leadership, is designed to ensure that the governing document reflects the present realities, emerging needs and future aspirations of the association and its members across Nigeria.
The committee is chaired by Engr. Philip Ewesor Jnr. MNSE, while Engr. Abdullahi Ibrahim MNSE serves as Secretary. Other members are Alh. Najeem Kola Oyelade, Alh. Jimoh Zakari, Engr. Charles Anozie, Hon. Daisi Komolafe and Engr. Agbo Terhemba Joseph.
Among other responsibilities, the committee is expected to examine LECAN’s governance and administrative structure, membership categories, financial management, the National Executive Council, State Chapters, Zonal and Branch structures, as well as elections and tenure of office.
It will also review provisions relating to the Board of Trustees, leadership succession, disciplinary procedures, corporate membership, fellowship and other areas considered critical to the effective administration, growth and development of the association.
The inauguration is being viewed as an important milestone in LECAN’s ongoing efforts to deepen institutional development and build a more transparent, accountable and efficient organisation. The leadership has charged the committee to approach its assignment with integrity, inclusiveness, professionalism and diligence.
LECAN expressed confidence that the committee would produce a comprehensive and forward-looking constitutional document capable of strengthening unity, accountability and professionalism while providing a solid foundation for the association’s sustainable growth across Nigeria.
