The Northern Senators Forum has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on the occasion of his 60th birthday, describing his political journey as a reflection of resilience, intellect and commitment to public service.
In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the forum said Shettima’s attainment of the Diamond Jubilee marked an important milestone in a career that has seen him serve in different capacities at both state and national levels.
According to the forum, Shettima’s journey from Commissioner in Borno State to two-term Governor, Distinguished Senator and ultimately Vice President of Nigeria demonstrates a sustained commitment to public service and national development.
The senators noted that Shettima, who was born in 1966, had grown into one of the prominent leaders of his generation, adding that his political career could serve as an inspiration to young Nigerians, particularly those seeking to contribute to the development of the country.
The forum also recalled his time in the 9th Senate, where it said he distinguished himself as a bridge-builder and a voice of reason in national affairs.
It described his current role as Vice President as another phase in which he has demonstrated what it called conviction, competence and compassion, particularly in representing and explaining the policies and programmes of the present administration.
The Northern Senators Forum further commended Shettima’s ability to combine his responsibilities as Vice President with his understanding of the concerns and aspirations of people in Northern Nigeria.
The forum, chaired by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, wished Shettima continued wisdom, strength and good health, expressing confidence that he still has much to contribute to Nigeria’s unity, stability and development.
