The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded major operational successes in its latest intelligence-driven crackdown on criminal activities, rescuing 15 trafficked children, recovering stolen service rifles and dismantling a telecommunications infrastructure vandalism network operating across states.

The breakthroughs were achieved by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) as part of the Corps’ renewed zero-tolerance campaign against crime, corruption, child trafficking and destruction of critical national assets.

Disclosing the development in Abuja, the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, said the operations followed painstaking investigations into separate criminal activities across several states.

Afolabi said investigations into missing children in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State exposed a syndicate allegedly headed by Anderson Archibong, who reportedly posed as an NGO official operating a purported “Back to School Project.” Sixteen children were allegedly taken from vulnerable families in January 2026 and sold for ₦2 million each.

Following intelligence-led operations along various transit routes, operatives rescued 15 of the children in Anambra, Imo, Enugu and other eastern transit corridors. Three alleged buyers—Joy Julius, Ngozi and Eze Lazarus—were arrested and reportedly confessed, while efforts are continuing to locate the remaining child.

In another major breakthrough, the squad recovered an AK-47 rifle allegedly stolen from the Corps’ National Headquarters. A serving officer, CAII Igah Ameh James, was arrested and investigations allegedly showed that he sold the weapon for ₦700,000 to Abakpa Simon Anthony, who later resold it for ₦800,000 to Sunday Akor, also known as IBB. The rifle and two empty magazines were recovered.

The NSCDC also uncovered an armoury-related case in Adamawa State and dismantled a telecommunications vandalism network in Delta and Kano states. In Delta, Henry Dennis was allegedly caught with 12 vandalized telecom panels, leading investigators to a wider network allegedly financed by scrap dealer Yusuf Musa. The Corps said financial transactions linked to the operation are being traced.

The Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, commended the CG’s SIS for its operational efficiency, while directing the Directorate of Legal Services to commence prosecution of arrested suspects. The Corps said it would continue to protect vulnerable citizens, critical infrastructure and the integrity of its personnel.
