Here, Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka, Our Managing Editor, in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) writes that in every generation, a community faces moments that define its future. For Ogbunka, an ancient community in Orumba South, Anambra State, that moment is now. As Nigeria prepares for the next round of elections, the power to attract development, representation, and respect lies in one simple document: the Permanent Voter Card (PVC). In a press release signed and made available to the public by the President General (PG) of the community, the Ogbunka Development Union (ODU) is calling on every son and daughter, at home and in the diaspora, to rise and be counted.
With great commitment, the leadership of the community is appealing to all indigenes and non-indigenes residing in or are natives of Ogbunka to endeavour to obtain their PVC. Your vote is the foundation of our collective bargaining power.
For those residing in Ogbunka and across the Southeastern region, registration is ongoing at the civic centre in Ogbunka. For those who cannot make it home, you are advised to obtain your PVC at your current place of residence. No one should be left out because of distance.
First, those who have turned 18 years after the last registration exercise. If you have come of age, this is your civic right and responsibility. Second, those who could not register in the last exercise. The doors are open again.
Third, those who lost their PVC. Fourth, those whose PVCs have expired and need renewal or replacement. Fifth, those who have relocated from where they previously registered and need to transfer to their current location.
And sixth, all other eligible persons who have not yet been captured. If you are 18 and above and a citizen, you qualify. Don’t assume someone will do it for you.
Remember: failure to obtain your PVC is a grievous sin against society and your future. It is also a disservice to Ogbunka as a community because you are directly reducing our voting strength and political relevance.
In politics, numbers talk. The more PVCs Ogbunka has, the louder our voice in Abuja and in the state. Projects, appointments, and development follow communities that can deliver votes. Let us not be counted among those who complained but did not vote.
In view of this, the leadership of the Ogbunka Development Union is directing that all village chairmen and kindred heads, where applicable, should convene a town hall meeting on Monday, 13th July 2026. The purpose is sensitization and full mobilization.
The registration and mobilization exercise will run through 28th July 2026. That gives every household, kindred, and village 28 days to ensure 100% participation. Use this period wisely.
After July 28, the Town Union will constitute a task force committee and, in collaboration with the vigilante, go round the villages and kindred for “Operation Show Your PVC.” The goal is to confirm readiness and encourage last-minute compliance.
This is not about politics of party. This is about the politics of Ogbunka. Whether you are at home or outside, your PVC links you back to your root. Let us vote as one people with one agenda: the progress of Ogbunka.
Ndi Ogbunka, the leadership has sounded the call. Now it is our turn to answer. Go to the civic centre. Visit your nearest INEC office. Get your PVC. When we all show up, Ogbunka wins. Our future depends on it.
