Abuja

Fourteen-year-old Chisom Umennabuike from Ngo Village in Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been honoured as “African Mathematics Ambassador” in recognition of his academic brilliance and discipline.

The award was conferred by the Pan-African Teen Development Initiative, PATDI, which cited Chisom’s outstanding performance, character, and positive influence among his peers as the basis for the recognition.

Alongside the title, PATDI also named him the organisation’s “Youngest Ambassador for a Crime-Free Society in Africa” under its Vision 2035 Project, which carries the theme: “Crime-Free Society Is Possible in Africa, Nigeria Taking the Lead.”

According to PATDI, Chisom represents the kind of focused and purpose-driven teenager the continent needs, one who chooses excellence, education, and innovation over crime and negative influences.

At just 14 years old, the student from Ngo Village has become a role model for millions of teenagers across Africa, demonstrating that success and good character remain the true pathway to greatness.

PATDI used the occasion to launch a call for collective action to raise one million focused teenagers across Africa who can mentor and inspire their peers away from crime and toward purpose, education, and leadership.

The organisation urged parents, stakeholders, governments, and well-meaning individuals to support teenagers in five key areas: education, vocational development, daily activities, character formation, and the pursuit of their dreams and talents.

PATDI stated that intentional guidance and support for young people are critical to building a safer and more productive society, adding that “a Crime-Free Society Is Possible” if stakeholders act decisively.

Celebrations poured in for Chisom, with congratulations extended to Ngo Village, Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata, Anambra State, PATDI, Nigeria, and Africa for the milestone.

The group concluded with its rallying call: “We Must Get It Right,” stressing that empowering teenagers today is essential to securing a peaceful and prosperous future for the continent.
