The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 57,000 officers across the country to ensure a peaceful and secure Easter celebration. The massive deployment, which includes specialized tactical units and intelligence operatives, aims to fortify national security and guarantee a peaceful holiday period for citizens.
According to a press release, the strategic operation spans all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and serves as a proactive measure to address potential security threats while protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
Under the Commandant General’s explicit instructions, all Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, and Provosts of Colleges have been tasked with overseeing comprehensive security in their jurisdictions. High-traffic areas, including churches, shopping complexes, and recreational centers, will be under strict surveillance by visible patrols and undercover agents.
Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the NSCDC Commandant General, emphasized the importance of vigilance and coordination with other security agencies. He noted that swift information sharing and rapid response to public reports are vital to the success of the operation.
“Our goal is a seamless and secure Easter season,” Prof. Audi stated. “We are working hand-in-hand with sister agencies to maintain order. I also urge parents and guardians to guide their children properly, ensuring they are not manipulated into engaging in activities that could disrupt public peace.”
The Corps’ elite divisions, including the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and Crack Squad, have been placed on maximum alert. These teams are prepared to act decisively against any individual or group attempting to undermine national stability.
The NSCDC encourages the public to stay alert, support security efforts, and report suspicious behavior to the nearest NSCDC post or security formation.
The deployment is expected to ensure a peaceful and secure Easter celebration across the country, with citizens urged to cooperate with security agencies to achieve this goal.
