Activist Aisha Yesufu, a known ally of Peter Obi, on Wednesday expressed anger at the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, headquarters in Abuja, criticising the party’s handling of its internal processes.

Her comments were directed at Osa Director, the national publicity secretary of the NDC, whom she accused of making public commitments without the capacity to implement them.

In a viral video, Yesufu, who recently withdrew from the race for the FCT senatorial seat, called for fairness and openness in the party’s operations moving forward.

“If the national secretary did not have what it took to go to every local government, then he shouldn’t have put out a statement to the world that he was going to do that,” she said. “If you do something, we must stand by our word. I’m not even asking for a level playing ground; I’m asking for a ground.”

She also lamented the personal attacks she has faced in recent days, saying her reputation had been heavily targeted while stressing that the party’s integrity must be prioritised. “This party is more than who wins, we need to follow a process that is transparent,” Yesufu said.

Despite the tension, she reiterated her commitment to the party’s presidential candidate and said she would accept defeat if the process was fair. “If I lost honourably and fairly, I’m ready to concede that I lost. I have a presidential candidate that I am here for,” she said.

Yesufu joined the NDC from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and had initially declared interest in the 2027 FCT senate seat before stepping down after the party opted against holding primaries for the position. Recent speculation has suggested that the FCT senate ticket may have been allocated to Amanda Pam, another aspirant who was in the party before Yesufu’s arrival.

On May 30, she had already raised concerns about alleged irregularities in the NDC senate primary process, insisting that the exercise was flawed and unfair. Her latest outburst suggests the internal dispute within the NDC remains unresolved.
