The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON FCT Chapter, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the passing of Comrade Patrick Osaretin Osadebamwen, former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FCT Council.
In a condolence message issued to the leadership and members of the FCT NUJ Council, Hon. Maikalangu described the late Osadebamwen as a dedicated media icon, a fearless advocate for truth, and an exemplary leader who served the Fourth Estate with unwavering commitment.
“The news of Comrade Patrick Osadebamwen’s departure is a monumental loss not only to the NUJ FCT Council but to the entire media fraternity across the nation,” the ALGON Boss stated.
He further paid tribute to the late journalist’s courage and impact, saying, “He was a soldier and a real bulldozer of the pen profession, a fearless journalist who stood firmly for truth, justice, and the advancement of responsible journalism.”
Hon. Maikalangu noted that Osadebamwen’s bold commentary, developmental reporting, and steadfast leadership left an indelible mark on the media landscape in the Federal Capital Territory.
“As we mourn this irreparable loss, I pray that Almighty God grants his family, friends, and the entire NUJ body the fortitude to bear this painful exit. May his gallant soul rest in perfect peace,” he added.
The AMAC Chairman urged members of the media council to honour the late chairman’s memory by upholding the high professional standards, unity, and courageous reporting he championed throughout his life and career.
