The Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Hon. Christopher Zaka Maikalangu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives across the Council.

In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley Madaki, on Wednesday, Maikalangu gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by a joint consortium comprising Transcorp Energy, Transcorp Power, and Husk Power Systems.

The collaborative project is being coordinated by the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, with support from the World Bank. It targets sustainable electrification in several key areas within AMAC.

The designated project sites include Dei-Dei Market, Jikwoyi Phases 1 and 2, Pyakasa, and Orozo.

The Executive Chairman assured the delegation of the Council’s full support to facilitate swift execution of the projects in the designated host communities.

To maximize the social impact of the intervention, Maikalangu requested that critical public infrastructure be provided with free power supply under the arrangement.

He listed the facilities to include Traditional Chiefs’ Palaces, Primary Healthcare Centres, PHCs, Police Stations, and other essential community facilities.

To ensure effective coordination, the AMAC Chairman appointed dedicated aides to serve as focal persons who will work directly with the agency, the consortium, and community leaders.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, team leader Mr. Christopher Ezeafulukwe expressed appreciation for the Council’s warm reception and stressed the consortium’s readiness to collaborate closely with AMAC to achieve their shared energy and development goals.
