Anambra South 2027: Why Onunkwo says NDC will be different if elected

The belief is simple: if Chief Ebuka Onunkwo could start with little and rise to build Seahorse Lubricant Industries Limited, a company that has become a source of livelihood for many through jobs and business, then he should be the right man for Anambra South in the Senate. Unless, of course, he chooses not to be, Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka Our Managing Editor can prove.

Chief Ebuka Onunkwo’s Mission Is Simple: Voice of the voiceless, restore hope, transformation agenda.

For the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), senatorial candidate for Anambra South, this is not just another political slogan. It is presented as a divine call to rewrite the story of the zone.

The mission, according to Onunkwo and his team, is to challenge the status quo and usher in an era where the welfare of the people comes before personal interests. It is built, they say, on service, compassion, and commitment to progress across all communities in the district.

At the heart of it is a promise to become the “Voice of the voiceless.” That, the campaign argues, means speaking for the struggling farmer in Ekwulobia, the unemployed graduate in Nnewi, the market trader in Ozubulu, Ogbunka, the widow, the artisan, the student, and the elderly who feel forgotten.

Dr. Onunkwo maintains that true representation starts with listening. “We must transform the cries of the people into policies, opportunities, and practical solutions that improve lives,” a campaign statement noted. His voice in the Senate, they insist, will carry the hopes of ordinary citizens.

The second pillar is “Restore hope.” The campaign argues that hope has the power to inspire confidence, rebuild communities, and ignite development. The belief is that every citizen of Anambra South deserves a future where hard work is rewarded and government works for everyone.

That is where the third pillar, “Transformation Agenda,” comes in. This, the NDC says, is about visible and lasting results, not just promises. It means an environment where businesses thrive, towns are connected by better infrastructure, and young people get skills and jobs.

What gives the agenda weight, supporters argue, is Onunkwo’s personal story. The belief is that if he could start with little and rise to become CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Limited, a firm that has provided employment and business opportunities for many, he understands how to create wealth from the ground up.

Seahorse Lubricant has become a reference point in the campaign. To supporters, it is proof that Onunkwo knows how to build systems that put food on tables and sustain families. They say that same enterprise mindset is what Anambra South needs in Abuja.

The NDC candidate has also built a reputation for philanthropy and community development long before 2027 politics began. Campaign officials point to this record as evidence of capacity and a commitment to service beyond elections.

The manifesto tagged “Transformation Agenda” is anchored on three core promises. First is Economic Empowerment: Creating an environment where local businesses can thrive, and providing employment and skill-acquisition opportunities for youths.

Second is Infrastructure: Connecting communities across Anambra South through improved roads, power, and digital access so that no town is left behind in development.

Third is Effective Representation: leadership that is responsive, accountable, and driven by strategic partnerships to accelerate development in the zone. This is where the “Voice of the Voiceless” slogan finds practical expression.

Campaign strategists say the difference between Onunkwo and other contenders will be approach. While others campaign on name recognition, Onunkwo will campaign on track record, ideas, and a willingness to be held accountable.

“With Onunkwo, NDC will be positively different from others if elected,” a senior campaign aide said. The difference, they argue, will be seen in constituency engagement, follow-up on projects, and legislation that directly impacts SMEs and young people.

The message being pushed to voters is deliberate and direct: *Voice of the Voiceless. Restore Hope. Transformation Agenda. The campaign insists it is more than a slogan, it is a solemn commitment.

As political activities gather momentum, the choice before Anambra South voters is being framed as one between maintaining the old order and embracing new leadership with vision, capacity, and passion.

For Onunkwo, the election is not the end goal. “The journey is not merely about winning,” the campaign said. “It is about building a stronger, more prosperous, and united Anambra South for this generation and those yet to come.”

The closing line from the NDC camp is clear: NDC is the party. Ebuka Onunkwo is the man. Service to the people. Whether that translates to votes in 2027 will depend on how well the “Transformation Agenda” resonates from Nnewi to communities in Anambra South.
