The Federal Government has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to ease passport application challenges facing Nigerians in the diaspora.
The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, directed the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, to send the team from NIS Headquarters as part of ongoing reforms to streamline passport services.
According to a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the team is scheduled to arrive in the UK on 10th August, 2026.
The team will work in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in London to process pending, new and renewal passport applications.
As part of the exercise, the intervention team will visit designated cities across the United Kingdom to conduct enrolment and processing. This is to enable eligible applicants in different parts of the country to access the service without travelling to London.
The intervention is open to three categories of applicants: those with pending applications, new applicants, and holders of passports with less than one year to expiry who wish to renew.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment at the designated centres.
The detailed schedule, including cities, dates, venues and enrolment times, will be announced separately. Applicants have been advised not to visit any location until the official schedule is released.

The NIS also confirmed that all digital channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System and home delivery service, remain fully operational during the intervention.
