The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has eulogized the late Senator Barinada Mpigi, describing him as a man who served his people and country with honor, dignity, and devotion to duty. Akpabio made the remarks at a funeral service held in Koroma Tai, Rivers State, paying tribute to the late Senator’s unwavering commitment to public service.

According to Akpabio, Senator Mpigi’s contributions to the Senate were invaluable, marked by his steady voice, thoughtful judgment, and dedication to the welfare of his constituents. “In the hallowed Chamber of the Senate, his voice was steady, his judgment thoughtful, and his commitment to the welfare of his constituents unmistakable,” Akpabio said.

The Senate President noted that the late Senator served with dignity, conviction, and loyalty to his people, mindful of the impact of his service on the lives of many. “He served with loyalty to his people, with fidelity to his conscience, and with faith in the promise of our nation,” Akpabio added.

Akpabio described the late Senator as a man who labored with conviction and believed in Nigeria’s future, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for years to come. “Though we grieve his loss, we remember him as a man who served with honor, who labored with conviction, and who believed in the future of Nigeria,” he said.

Senator Mpigi, who represented Rivers South East Senatorial District, was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works and was known for his influence, outspokenness, and dedication to the Nigerian Senate.

The Senate President concluded by stating that Nigeria misses the late Senator, and his service will be remembered in the nation’s archives. “Nigeria misses him. The Senate mourns him. His people remember him. His service remains stenciled in the tablets of time and in our national archives,” Akpabio said.

This was contained in a press release from Jackson Udom Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity on Saturday.
