The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Grace Ike, felicitates Muslim faithful in the FCT and across Nigeria on this year’s Maulid celebration, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ike described Maulid as a significant occasion that recalls the exemplary life and teachings of the Prophet, including his commitment to peace, compassion, justice, humility, honesty and love for humanity.
She said those virtues remain timeless and should guide journalists in the discharge of their professional duties, especially in a diverse and information-driven society.
“At a time when our nation needs greater unity, tolerance and mutual understanding, the teachings of the Prophet provide enduring lessons on peaceful coexistence and respect for one another,” the statement read.
Ike urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion to pray for peace, stability and prosperity in Nigeria, and to promote dialogue and tolerance among the country’s diverse communities.
The NUJ FCT Council, she added, remains committed to promoting responsible journalism, professional excellence and the protection of values that strengthen democracy and societal harmony.
The chairman called on media practitioners to uphold truth, justice and humanity in their reportage, stressing that ethical journalism is critical to national cohesion.
Ike prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the nation’s prayers and blesses Nigeria with peace and prosperity, while wishing all Muslim faithful a peaceful and reflective Maulid celebration.
