The Nigeria Immigration Service is deploying a Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom this September in a bid to bring passport services closer to Nigerians and clear outstanding applications.
DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, in a statement dated August 31, 2026, said the exercise will cover London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff, and will run in two phases from September 7 to 26.
The initiative follows the directive of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as part of broader efforts to improve service delivery to Nigerians abroad. Locations and dates were finalised after engagement with the Nigerian High Commission and community leaders in the UK.
Phase one, from September 7 to 19, will serve applicants in Manchester at Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, and in London at Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road. Phase two, from September 21 to 26, will hold in Aberdeen at Hilton Convention Centre and in Cardiff at Sophia Gardens.
The exercise is open to Nigerians seeking new passports, renewals or assistance with pending applications. The NIS said it presents an opportunity for applicants with unresolved cases to engage officials directly at the designated venues.
Applicants are expected to apply online, select a processing centre, book a biometric appointment and make payment before attending. Required documents include application forms, payment slips, appointment slips and a self-addressed return envelope. No cash will be accepted on site.
The Service emphasized that its digital channels remain fully operational. This includes the Contactless Passport Application System and the home delivery service, giving applicants alternatives outside the physical intervention.
The NIS urged eligible Nigerians in the four cities and surrounding areas to take advantage of the exercise, complete all online requirements ahead of time, and ensure all documents are available to avoid delays during the intervention.
