Senate President Godswill Akpabio has celebrated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his birthday, praising his leadership during Nigeria’s most challenging times and his current role in driving national development.
Akpabio said Shettima’s public service journey reflects resilience, noting his transition from Commissioner, to two-term Governor of Borno, Senator, and now Vice President of the Federal Republic.
He singled out Shettima’s governance of Borno at the height of Boko Haram attacks, saying the Vice President provided hope when the authority of the Nigerian state was under severe test.
“You remained at your duty post, providing leadership in the face of danger,” the Senate President said, adding that such leadership is needed as the nation confronts present challenges.
Akpabio commended the partnership between Shettima and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as critical to laying the foundation for a more prosperous future.
He said the celebration was not just about another year added to Shettima’s life, but about the years he has invested in the service of the fatherland.
The Senate President prayed for God’s continued guidance, strength and grace upon the Vice President, wishing him more years of service and fulfilment.
Akpabio expressed hope that the years ahead will bring Nigeria closer to the nation of peace, prosperity and global respect that generations have laboured for.
