The village head of Idu, Chief Mohammed Bawa Makama, has extended warm Eid el Fitr greetings to all Muslims within and outside his domain, as they celebrate the 2026 Eid el Fitr. In an interview with journalists shortly after the Eid prayer, Chief Makama emphasized the importance of love, peace, and harmony among people of different faiths and backgrounds.
Idu is the host community of the Idu Industrial Area in the FCT.
The traditional ruler congratulated HRH Idris Musa of Jiwa Chiefdom on his elevation from a third-class chief to a second-class one by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his service and dedication to his people. Chief Makama noted that the Jiwa Chiefdom is an old and respected traditional institution, and the monarch’s elevation is a testament to his commitment to community development.
Chief Makama preached love, peace, and understanding among people of different religious faiths, emphasizing that Islam means peace. He hailed the people of Idu for their peaceful cohabitation and urged them to continue promoting harmony and unity in their community.
The village head appealed to the leaders to always have the interest of citizens at heart, urging them to be responsive to the needs of the people. He, in turn, called on citizens to support the government in power, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and cooperation in achieving national development.
Chief Makama noted that the coincidence of Christians and Muslims fasting at the same time is a sign that God is one and wants interfaith harmony. He emphasized the need for people to respect and appreciate each other’s faiths, promoting a culture of tolerance and understanding.
The traditional ruler expressed his gratitude to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for recognizing the efforts of the Jiwa monarch and elevating him to a second-class chief. He prayed for the good of all, asking Allah to bless and guide the nation and its leaders.
